Moving From Meta: Where to Find us.

We received an email from a concerned patron today about the toxicity around Meta’s new policies, and they were pleading for us to leave these platforms. The email address wasn’t valid, and they wished to remain anonymous. We are more than happy to keep it that way.

This is something that Chelly and I had already been discussing with each other. After hearing that they will be removing fact-checking, and removing their protections from the queer community and women - we knew this was something we would need to work out. Being a business that offers a safe space for this community, we knew that we couldn’t continue to promote our business with Facebook and Instagram.

We also acknowledge that this will be harmful to our marketing, I know that many of our amazing customers have found us through Facebook and Instagram. This is something we are willing to sacrifice, but would like to offer other options for you to follow us, and stay up to date on things going on here at The Lythik Noir Collective.

We do currently have a TikTok account:

https://www.tiktok.com/@lythik.noir

With the possibility of TikTok being banned in the US soon, we know this isn’t a solid option.

Today we set up two new accounts for those who prefer the social media root - we think these are the best options for those that are unhappy with the safety stance from meta.

BlueSky :

BlueSky is a lot like Twitter used to be, I have had a personal account on it for around a month to get a feel for the app. The community seems fantastic, and they don’t collect your data like other social media companies.

YouTube:

I will be the first to admit that I haven’t been great about posting to TikTok, as a photographer- I’m just not as confident with video formats. But we will do our best to post cute shorts to keep you entertained and promote our local artists.

Email List:

Finally, we already have an email list. This will be a great way to make sure you know about sales and events coming to the shop. I will, at most, send two emails a month. Usually, I only send one at the beginning of each month. We have so many fantastic events planned for this year, we just really hope we can get the word out without the use of Meta apps.

Blog Posts:

Again, I will admit that I have had a hard time keeping up with blog posts. I will work on being better at this to make sure that you can come to our website and get all of the current information about sales, events, artists, and fun info dumps about pagan holidays and celebrations.

We will keep our Instagram and Facebook active for 6 more months (ending in June). This will give us time to inform everyone about our move to the new apps and get everyone over who wants to continue on this journey with us.

We look forward to continuing to grow this community with you. We are so incredibly grateful for our first year, and are so excited to continue for as long as possible. Your support means everything to us.

Stay Weird,

Morgan
