Meet Taliesin Nova: A Unique Blend of Gothic Art and Handmade Creations at The Lythik Noir Collective
Our vision for The Lythik Noir Collective has always centered around supporting and showcasing small artists and makers. We’re committed to providing a platform where their incredible talents can truly shine. Now that our physical shop is a reality, we’re thrilled to finally bring this dream to life.
One of the first artists we’re excited to introduce is someone who reached out to us months before we even began our search for a location. Their enthusiasm and passion played a significant role in inspiring us to find a space to call our own.
We’re proud to showcase the work of Taliesin Nova, the creative force behind the brand “Ecto and Alba.” Taliesin’s unique blend of alternative jewelry, potion bottles, and hauntingly beautiful original art perfectly embodies the dark, artistic spirit of Lythik Noir. We couldn’t be more excited to share their creations with you.
About the Artist:
Taliesin Nova hails from Sidney, NY, and recently returned to the area after living in the Capital District. A blend of self-taught and semi-professional artist, Taliesin has honed their craft through a mix of personal exploration and a few college-level drawing and painting courses. Identifying as an Atheist Goth, Taliesin’s astrological big three—Cancer Sun, Aquarius Moon, and Aries Rising—reflect their unique and complex personality.
Their art is deeply influenced by their lifelong connection to goth culture and a profound love for the dark and macabre. This affinity also inspired the name of their brand, “Ecto and Alba.” The name draws from a riddle involving an albatross, a creature of dark symbolism, and Taliesin’s favorite bat species, the Honduran White Bat (scientifically known as Ectophylla alba). By combining elements from these two creatures, Taliesin crafted a name that encapsulates their artistic identity.
Fun Facts:
In 2015, Taliesin embarked on a 3,000-mile journey, driving across the country to live on the Oregon Coast for five months.
A devoted fan of Beetlejuice, Taliesin proudly sports custom twin portraits of Lydia and Beetlejuice tattooed on the backs of their calves.
When not immersed in their art, Taliesin enjoys reading, cooking, baking, and has a deep passion for makeup, particularly Halloween and costume makeup.
A lover of animals, they dream of one day owning an albino corn snake.
Their favorite creation to date is a small painting titled “The Devil You Know.”
Taliesin’s work embodies a rich blend of dark themes and personal experiences, making each piece a reflection of their distinct perspective and creative spirit.
A Perfect Match: Taliesin Nova and Lythik Noir Collective
One of the main reasons we’re thrilled to welcome Taliesin Nova to our collective isn’t just the exceptional quality of their work, but its remarkable uniqueness. Taliesin discovered us through a Facebook post, and we feel incredibly fortunate that they did. Their talent has left us in awe, and we can’t wait to share their creations with you.
For Taliesin, joining the Lythik Noir Collective is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with other creatives who not only appreciate their art but also share their perspective on the world. We’re eagerly anticipating our first meeting, where we’ll undoubtedly have much to discuss—especially that dark riddle that inspired their brand name!
